Hermetic Commentary on God - By Steve Doyle

God as the Ultimate Macrocosm:

"But in this Universe there is nothing which is not of the God"
"For he is the Universe"

I think it is uncontestable that God be any less than His maximum self and as by definition a true Ultimate Macrocosm contains all other macrocosms as its microcosms, I see it no other way than that God is the Ultimate Macrocosm of being. I believe Hermes will agree with me.

God as Ultimate Virtue and Idea:

In another piece of mine, I stated that Virtue gives all and receives nothing, which is exactly the quality ascribed to God by Hermes Trismegistus in the Divine Pymander as follows: "One thing is the beginning of all things; for that providing everything is Good. When I say also in all respects, it is ever Good. But this belongs to no one else but the God only. For neither is He wanting of anything, so that coveting to possess it he should become evil"

It is also said by Yeshua: "As a man thinketh in his heart so is he". And Hermetic quote states: "The All is Mind. The Universe is Mental". Indeed it is difficult to dismiss anything being anything other than an idea of some form. The Universe is a collective set of ideas forming One Grand Idea, the One God. As we are microcosms of the Universe and are born of its same essence it must be admitted that as humans we are collections of ideas. But the same quality must be ascribed to the macrocosm, the Grand Idea, which is the collection of all Its microcosms. Virtue is an idea as much as anything else is. If God being an Idea is also that which gives all and receives none then He must also be admitted to be the Ultimate Virtue. The excellences which comes from virtue, come from He as well as he is the Virtue itself.

God as Ultimate Justice:

Ultimate Justice is the state of optimum functionality and who other than God, the Virtue and the Idea of Ideas, be qualified to be at such a state? For it was also stated in another work of mine that Justice and Virtue are one with one another and God being Ultimate Virtue ought rightly be Ultimate Justice as well. For also He and everything he sets is rightly so and in accordance with Ultimate Law.

God as Sincerity:

Genuineness and reality lie in the sincere and if the sincere did not lie with God/Ultimate Being what basis for reality would It have? It must be admitted that sincerity is a quality that lies with the Ultimate.God as visible to the Mind's eye:

"For nothing is invisible, not even of the incorporeal. Mind is seen in the understanding, The God in the making."

All is capable of revelation through intuitive comprehension which is capable by use of the Mind's eye. The Mind, the Soul of God, is able to perceive itself through its own intuitive capabilities. This is reasoning and capability that comes from within, not without. It exists inherently in being and allows being the quality that it owns.

God as a Vibratory state:

"Nothing rests; everything moves; everything vibrates"

We see that all things in the Universe are in motion, which is observable within the interior of any particle/wave form. Change is everywhere. Solid objects are in motion. Truly indeed nothing is at rest. If the Universe indeed be the body of God then the qualities of the universe, namely the vibration, must also be ascribed to God.

God as Omnipresent
"As above, so below"

According to this quote if God be in one plane of existence he must also exist in the next higher and lower plane and this would go on infinitely leading to the idea of omnipresence. Plus as God is the Macrocosm then God is the All and as there is nothing that is not of He then he must be in all places.

God as (the) One

According to the polarity principles of hermetics all extremes are degrees of the same thing, this being the One. All microcosms lie within the macrocosm. All lie within the One as All lie within the body of God as these mean the same, that principally God is the One and the One is God. Any number of names can also be ascribed.

God as Progression

"Mind may be transmuted; from state to state; degree to degree; condition to condition; pole to pole; vibration to vibration. True Hermetic Transmutation is a Mental Art."

Transmutation serves for maintenance as well as progression for in all progressions lie maintenance to maintain the progress itself. Mind, as well as Virtue, is sustained by itself as it causes its own progression. If all is in vibration, then all is changing quality, and it would be foolish to assume that God would be the quality change for the worse for this is not good and God is Good. It must then be assumed that He be progression from worse to better, accomplished out of his own Will."For the Energy of Him is the Will, and His Essence the Willing all things to be"
