My True Self
My true self wears no mask
And is able to accomplish any task
Whatever confronts at this forefront of change
That shapes our lives beyond visible range
Seldom seen, this fantastic scene
Can only be deciphered in a state of dreams
Where my true self speaks to personal angels
Immersed in love from all spiritual angles
Beings of light that sense my delight
When I meditate, study, make love and write
This is who I am and this is what I see
When my mind's at peace, I'm free to be me
My one and only true living self
Accelerates through life, but remains stealth
From the public eye that can't see what's
apparent
My genes passed down from the love of my parents
Inherited across time throughout generations
Strengthened by adversity that broke up relations
Generating a wealth of information
From the original source outside of this nation
Chromosomes that communicate on the DNA level
A lore that gave birth to the state of a rebel
An outlaw, a public enemy, a bad boy, a black
sheep
A refugee, an outkast, and clans that mobb deep
Like Wu-tang, or X, or a tribe call quest
I follow a blueprint like the great KRS'
ONE like light that casts down from the sun
Knowledge Reign Supreme Over Nearly Everyone
Or like Jay-Z, the architect of Rock-A-Fella
Or like Eazy, Dre, Ren, Cube and Yella
I'm a n***a with attitude. Intense attitude
And although I have a right to raise hell and act
rude
I try not to raise that intolerable mood
Because my hunger for wisdom and spiritual food
Is voracious, so I continue to seek knowledge
I am a truth seeker, and life is my college
Strife and pain goes without saying
But the music in the background keeps on playing
And my true self stays in tune.
