There are two paths for those who seek Enlightenment. One of these
is The Path of Perfection, and the other is The Path of Love and Holiness.



The Path of Perfection is the path of mastery. In this path lies
knowledge and self discipline. This path is one of perfecting the spirit, the
mind, the emotions, and the physical body, using ancient techniques of yoga and
shamanism. This is the path of a spiritual warrior, a warrior who conquers the
enemy within, and thereby conquers the enemy in the outer.



The other path, The Path of Love and Holiness, is the Mystic Path
that we nourish for the Children of Love and Light.



The Mystic Path, the Path of 'Anemalon', is the path of attunement
to the original blueprints of perfection, to Supreme Happiness, Omnipresence of
Divine Being and Feeling, transformation of imperfection, the splendor and
majesty of Divine Consciousness and Love, and transmutation into Perfection
through eyes that see through Cosmic Love.



The light blue radiance of Wisdom and Enlightenment, the virtue of
letter A, emanates from those who meditate on Divine Mind. In meditation,
visualize yourself as a tiny dot in the solar plexus with the body as an entire
Creation , swirling all around you. Visualize the light blue color of wisdom
and enlightenment shining throughout all of your body from a tiny sun in your
lungs, and feel the mystical faculties that come from mental unity with the
original Divine Blueprints of Creation. Enliven this feeling by inwardly toning
the letter soft A, ahhh, to the musical note of G ringing throughout. Fill
yourself with a sensation of ease and relaxation. Feel the gifts of
clairvoyance, clairaudience, eloquence, artistic talent, and control over the

On the path of Love and Holiness, the self becomes the crucible of
Divine Happiness that transforms everything around it.



Supreme happiness, the virtue of letter N of 'Anemalon', results
in feeling the joy of the ONE BEING, the Unified Field of Life. Supreme
Happiness bonds the mind with the heart.



Meditate on a dark red color radiating from a tiny sun in the
abdomen, seen as a hollow space. Meditate on the highest state of happiness that
can be imagined, a state of the supreme seventh heaven of delight.

Enliven the feeling of happiness by inwardly toning the musical
note A while feeling a sensation of chill and coolness, for this is a virtue of
the water element of feeling.

This virtue gives control over the drive for self-preservation and
complete control over the feeling world. It gives control over the coherence of
any material thing.



The next virtue of the mystic path is Omnipresence, consciousness
that is united with Divine Consciousness and Being and ONENESS of ALL. This is
the deep purple divine virtue of letter E.



Each step of this path requires a choice. It is the choice between
focusing attention on the outer appearance of the Many or focusing attention on
the indwelling presence of the One within the many.



Meditate on deep violet color shining from a tiny sun in the midriff
area.



Visualize consciousness of deep purple color penetrating all and
enliven the feeling of ONENESS by inwardly toning the sound of letter E to the
musical note of D. Sense Divine Consciousness and Feeling-penetrating-all.
Meditate on ONE LIFE that lives in all, like ONE tree that has many branches,
leaves, and roots, yet is ONE TREE. Feel your unity with Divine Consciousness

In Love and Holiness, we stand with you as the fires of bliss and

Omnipresence gives control over the feelings of self and others,
because in this state the consciousness is one with all consciousness
everywhere. Omnipresence unites individual consciousness with Divine
Consciousness.



The Mystic Path is a path of devotion to feeling Divine Love flowing
in each and every moment.



Flowing feelings of Divine Qualities are the change process of
transformation. Flowing feelings are magnetism that attracts new realities on
Earth. Flowing feelings and magnetism glow with the most beautiful blue green
light, and are the essence of letter M of 'Anemalon'.



Meditate on a beautiful blue-green color shining from a tiny sun in
the abdomen, seen as a hollow space, that fills the body with a sense of
coolness turning to chill. Inwardly chant the sound of letter M to the musical
note D and enliven the FEELINGS OF flowing emotion and ecstasy.



In the flowing of this Love, enlightenment, letter A, walks hand in
hand with feelings of supreme happiness and service to THE ONE.

The loamy brown light of control over passion and negative beings is

TREE COMMISSION APPROVES HABITAT'S ORIGINAL PLAN. JOEL SADLER CLAIMS
OWNERSHIP OF 4 ACRES OF THE 11 ACRE FOREST. HABITAT TURNS DOWN LETTER OF
RECONCILIATION AND ALTERNATIVE PROPOSALS.



Brief **Bullet** summary of tonight's Tree Commission Hearing and
outcome:

*NEW CONTROVERSY emerges over ownership of 11 acre forest. Does
Atlanta Habitat For Humanity (AHFH) own it?? Superior court must decide.

*Tree Commission opts to hear the "tree" case anyway, even though
AHFH not owning the land invalidates their subdivision application.

*, SINCE A 30 DAY 'LITIGATION' DELAY IS INEVITABLE ANYWAY TO
DETERMINE OWNERSHIP, neighborhood citizens plead to Atlanta HFH to set aside
these 30 days to review & consider alternate design plan that will save 50% of
tree canopy and still allow the same number of homes built, to agree to
mediation to forge a "win-win" new plan. (see yesterday's canopy save update
for text of LHCCA, NPU-Y and NPU-Z letter to AHFH, that was hand delivered to
them before the appeal.)

*Habitat denies neighborhood request, wins approval of original
design plan, after citizens' plan devised by Village Habitat Design is presented
and explained.

There was a shocking surprise tonight at the tree commission
hearing. A completly new and unexpected factor came into play...Does Atlanta
Habitat of Humanity

own the 11 acres on which they are planning to build a subdivision??
The jury is out.


Charles Brown, attorney for Joel Sadler, surprised the Tree
Commission this evening by making a request for a continuance based on disputed
ownership of 4 of the 11 acres. He said that his client, Joel Sadler,
possesses a certified warranty deed as proof of ownership of 4 of the 11 acre
forest in Lakewood Heights, claimed by AHFH for their proposed subdivision.. He
said that soon he would be filing an injunction to prevent HFH from proceeding
with any tree removal. He explained why Mr. Sadler had strong claim to title,
and told the TCC that he intends to prove before Superior Court that Atlanta HFH
does not possess true ownership of these 4 acres. On that basis (i.e. that
AHFH's application for a subdivision was illegal) he suggested that the TCC
needed to grant a continuance during which the title fight is adjudicated. The
TCC refused Sadler's plea for a continuance and voted unanimously to hear the
tree appeal tonight anyway. Even though the TCC refused to grant the delay to
Mr. Sadler and his attorney, Mr. Brown, the superior court trial will still
require a time delay, of perhaps a month or more, during which time the
"disputed title" case is litigated.

Lakewood Heights was represented by Jack White, an environmental
mediator, and Robert Reed of Village Habitat Design. They appealed to A.HFH and
the TCC for a 30 day continuance so that a compromise could be reached between
A.HFH and the residents of the Lakewood neighborhoods. They presented the
Environmental PDH Zoning subdivision plan that would fulfill A.HFH's goal to
build 41 houses, save significant expense of road building (making it
unnecessary to build 1000 feet of the new roads) and save half the forest to
appease the residents of NPU-Y, NPU-Z, the Brownsmill Comm. Asso. and LHCCA.
The following is the gist of the arguments and events as we made our appeal
tonight....

The Tree Ordinance states that whenever possible, designs will be
favored that save AS MANY MATURE TREES AS POSSIBLE. Even so, Tree Commissioner
William Fuller spent a long time arguing against the Environmental PDH design
presented by Robert Reed of Village Habitat Designs. Many of Mr. Fuller's
statements contradicted proven benefits that Environmental PDH Zoning has
demonstrated in four other nationally acclaimed, Environmental PDH, subdivisions
here in this area. We wondered if there is a self defeating "conflict of
interest" having a tree commissioner who is so adamantly opposed to the only
zoning designation which saves trees, "Environmental PDH" .



Several immediate neighbors on Harper and Brown's Mill Roads rose to
speak against the A.HFH design plan. It was also pointed out that

A.HFH had not cooperated with the neighborhoods, nor incorporated
our ideas into their plan. Inconsistences that "do not compute" such as

their claim to preserve 55% green space, a claim A.HFH made tonight,
was shown to be impossible to deliver, given their current design plan. Our
offer to A.HFH by the citizens to take a month to reason together and find a
better way was repeated.


Phil Bradley, attorney for A.HFH, then proceded to point out that
none of the above is pertinent to the Tree Commission's purpose and function. He
said that land ownership, zoning, and neighborhood-developer mediation do not
fall within the TCC's jurisdiction, and that the appeal could only be judged on
the basis of whether AHFH's current plan was in accordance with TCC statues,
specifically whether the arborist had made any mistakes in approving the A.HFH
design plan.



In our final rebuttal, LHCCA (by Jack White & Michael Schlosser)
pointed out the illegality of approving a design plan if the application for a
subdivision underlying it was submitted alleging false information about who
owns the land, and thus, that this kind of ruling does fall within the
legitimate purview of the TCC jurisdiction. These two representatives of the
neighborhoods pointed out the discrepancy between clearing for a road on level
ground (60 foot path, as in VHD's environmental plan) versus the much wider
clear cutting swath (120+ feet) needed for A.HFH's plan where often roads were
plotted across very steep terrain. Our objection was that roads need to be laid
out on level ground to save trees.


Based apparently on Mr. Bradley's summation, The Atlanta Tree
Commission approved AHFH's current plan.

It is interesting to us that win or lose--regardless of the outcome
of tonight's appeal before TCC, A.HFH is going to be stalled for at least 30
days during which time the legal dispute over ownership of "their" property will
be tried in superior court. What a perfect opportunity, at NO RISK TO them, for
A.HFH to show good faith--"walk their talk" of claiming to cooperate with, and
listen to, the community for a month. A.HFH can't move ahead with their
subdivision for at least a month in any case. We could all have taken
advantage of the unavoidable "legal" delay by giving it a mutual, good faith
effort to negotiate a "win-win" during these 30 days. We can't imagine what
possible harm it would have done to agree to mediation during this 30 day
waiting period? They would certainly be under no obligation to agree to our
proposals, and they could have "broken off" discussions at any time if they felt
the discussions were unproductive. Regardless, they refused mediation.



Within the next 6 days, we have to decide whether to appeal this
decision of the TCC before the superior court. It now appears to us that we

have a valid basis for making such an appeal before superior court,
but we may first watch what happens with the upcoming litigation over

disputed ownership of the 4 acres. Never a dull moment.

Dear Ms. Martin:



We want to make sure that a couple of points about our reaction to
your proposal are clear, and we have a request and a proposal (attached) for
you.



1. We do not oppose the concept of Habitat housing on the site; we
oppose this particular design for a very specific reason. It removes many -
almost all, we believe, after construction of the actual houses - of the mature
trees, whose numerous benefits to our community and the City at large cannot be
replaced for many decades by the small saplings that will be planted later. (1)



2. There are viable alternative plans acceptable to the City of
Atlanta that will provide the number of housing units you seek and save a vast
number of the mature trees on the site. Acknowledging the struggles that Rick
Sibley encountered when he proposed alternatives to Site Development, we asked
Clay Preston and Robert Reed at Village Habitat - whose business specializes in
alternative designs that have been built all over the metropolitan area and who
have won many local, regional and national awards - to examine the challenges of
this particular site. They have put together a plan that in their professional
judgment will accommodate Habitat's traditional house plans, provide the same
number of units on the site, and save approximately 50% of the mature trees
while lowering construction costs. The latter point is surely important; Mr.
Preston's and Mr. Reed's cost estimates acknowledge that there would be
additional costs involved in re-conceptualizing this plan, but in their view and
experience, most of them would be offset by lower building costs.



Additionally, their plan sets aside certain land to remain natural,
focused on buffers with large mature trees. We acknowledge your previously
expressed reluctance to sell any of the land you own here, but we have
identified funds for greenspace protection and are willing to commit them to
purchase any protected areas for their remaining market value after the
development rights have been utilized and put them into a permanent conservation
easement. This would provide additional funding to help defer any additional
costs to you and would be a huge permanent amenity and benefit to our community,
including our new neighbors in this development.



3. We ask that you and the applicable professionals in your
organization take a serious and critical look at Mr. Preston's and Mr. Reed's
plan and see if their basic premises are valid. And we ask that you use all of
your skills and energy to work with them and us to find a viable way to use
their approach as a basis for this development in our neighborhood. We pledge
to you that within such a context we will employ our energies and abilities
toward reaching a successful and mutually acceptable conclusion to these
challenges.



Additionally, we recognize and regret how difficult it has become
for the local neighborhoods and Habitat to communicate. No doubt everyone could
have done a better job in this respect; we certainly wish that we had done some
things differently. As we discuss these matters in the larger community, we
find many friends of Habitat who - whatever their opinion of this situation -
appreciate the organization's historic mission and want the dialogue on this to
continue. Surely that good advice offers us all the potential for the best
possible outcome. To that specific end, we are willing to use appropriate
mediation services to help us all work together (if you believe that would be
helpful), and we will try very hard to bring to the table those folks who can
develop a good resolution to these issues.
